I absolutely love days like this... Bright and clear, cold but not nippy, and punctuated by bursts of radiant colors from the trees that have yet to lose their leaves.
I'm wearing hawt boots, work wasn't too shitty, and I have ten paid-for yoga classes for me to start on.
I'm okay right now. :)

for $10 you can own a hippo sitting on a toilet that serves no other purpose. I was expecting maybe a bank? But nope.

Seeing as it's Armistice Day, I felt this is probably the perfect day to post this.
Last week was spent going through all of my eighty three year old Great Uncle Jack's photographs and scanning them in so that the entire family can have copies of each others pictures. I got to the very bottom of the pile and there was a small brown book there. I pick it up and Uncle Jack then tells me it's photographs from when he was in the army. He was stationed at Goslar, Germany, on the slopes of the Harz mountain range from 1942-1945.
My Uncle Jack has always been a keen photographer (see my icon for proof) and when he joined the army, being a non-smoker and cigarettes being scarce, he was able to keep his cigarettes and swap them for a camera when he got enough. He also developed the pictures while he was stationed at Goslar.
Here they are:

I'm so glad I know you! Please come to New England so all your transcontinental peeps can see you! I hope today brings good things, like CAKE and autumn leaves and snuggly sweaters :-)
Tonite! - Nov 10 - I join DJ Black Maru for DIE
It's member appreciation night at Mercury @ Machinewerks. That means $Zero cover for members all night long. Come down for a weeknight drink, a game of pool and enjoy goth favorites accompanied by a bit of 80's, industrial or wherever else the crowd's mood delivers us.
Thanksgiving Weekend Kick-off - Wed, Nov 25

Wednesday, December 23 - The Das Rapture Finale
I haven't made a poster yet but we'll be celebrating my brother's birthday. Luckily, he's not here so we can do anything we want. That means I'll be playing the music you want and not what my brother wants to hear. And yup, December 23rd is the Das Rapture Finale. I have plans for 2010! (rubbing hands together fiendishly)
Beginning with...
New Year's Eve
We had so much fun creating The Secret Agent's Ball last year we're doing it again. Prepare to make contact folks!

Oh, and if you're wondering - yes, I upgraded my DJ name to DJ Major Tom. I've always been a Bowie/Nena/Schilling fan and thought about this since I began DJing in Seattle. Lots of you encouraged me to use a more creative name and with the New Year's Eve theme this seems like the right time to make the switch. It's still me and I'll continue to play great crowd-centric goth, industrial, dark wave and other alternative music. No, not the type of alternative music from Twilight or The Lost Boys II, that stuff's garish. I play the good alternative music...the stuff you like to dance to.
As always, Mercury @ Machinewerks is a private club for members and their guest. Liquor sales to members only.

Ok, so I finally have some time to rant about this, because this is a very alarming issue.
Everyone is so quick to point out and be like "OMG, the prime minister has goth daughters!" Ok, yeah, I can see how that might surprise some people, but why is everyone ignoring the real, more scary issue here?
The fact that they are rich fucking people and those two girls are wearing black moomoos!! Does this not concern anyone? Did like New York Fashionistas not cry out in pain? I DID!!! I wanted to fly the fuck over there with at the very least some Eternal Love clothing. Seriously!!! Even Mrs Michelle Obama, whom they are dubbing the Jackie -O of our times (a term I do NOT take lightly) could have been like "Hey girls, lets at least throw a belt on your dresses!" But no, we are letting them wear that shit, and not even caring about the fact that its poorly done.
I am just stunned at the world we live in. I want to send the girls a care package. Frankly, it doesn't matter if your a goth or a cow girl, just do it RIGHT! Don't look like a tard. At least their hair is done, and they have cute little girl make up appropriate for their age. But the clothes, OMG, I was like, are they wearing cotton garbage bags?!
Save the Goth Daughtes of Spain! Can we send them Kimora Lee Simons for some consulting? Betsy? The people of Lip Service?! Shit even Hot Topic would be a god send for those two!

Please allow me to introduce myself... I'm a puppet with wrath and taste. (erm...)
Hi :) My name's Gus, and for the past year I've been producing a small online media literacy show which builds on my early interest in Adbusters. We've just joined LiveJournal because we like the community here -- there's a great mix of fan production and media critique. We welcome any feedback, questions, collaboration requests, tasty foods, etc that you might like to send our way.
Here's an episode we produced recently doing some culture jamming on Oscar Meyer and houseparty.com -- the latter is an attempt to get you to advertise to your friends in the comfort of your own home. It's a little longer than most of our episodes because we really couldn't bear to cut out any of the bits with the drag nuns:
Check our channel for more vids. Anyway, pleased ta meetcha :) hope to see you all around the LJ.
